Marquette Finishes Competition at Louisville and North Central

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Marquette University men’s and women’s track and field teams competed in their first meets following the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships at the Dr. Keeler Invitational in Naperville and at the University of Louisville’s Cardinal Twilight.
Kyle Winter had the highest finish of the weekend at the Dr. Keeler Invitational on Friday evening with a third-place finish in the men’s 800-meter run with a time of 1:50.87. Brendan Franz followed Winter in 1:53.68 to place 10th with a new personal best.
In the men’s 1,500, Spencer Agnew finished in 3:54.21 to place eighth ahead of redshirt senior Jack Hackett who was 12th in 3:56.57. First-year Marquette law student Tyler Leverington ran a time of 3:56.89 to take 14th.
Marquette also competed Thursday night at the Dr. Keeler Invitational in the 5,000- and 10,000-meter runs where freshman Sarah Poirier placed fourth in the 10k with a time of 36:41.65.
Junior Kristen Gaffey competed in both the shot put and the discus at the Cardinal Twilight and placed sixth in each. Gaffey threw a distance of 43 feet, 7 3/4 inches (13.30 meters) in the shot put and 148 feet, 6 inches (45.26 meters) in the discus.
Senior Cheldon Brown tied for fourth with junior Michael Saindon in the men’s high jump at 6 feet, 8 inches (2.03 meters), while women’s high jumpers Tatyana Pashibin and Sarah MacCourtney placed sixth and eighth, respectively.
Junior Patrick Stuart also competed in the shot put at the Cardinal Twilight and placed 13th with a top toss of 47 feet, 11 1/4 inches (14.61 meters).
The Golden Eagles return to action on May 16-17 at the Gregory Invitational in Naperville, Ill.
