Golden Eagles Conclude Action at Last Chance Meets

LOUISVILLE – The Marquette University men’s and women’s track and field team concluded action at a pair of last chance meets on Friday evening in Louisville, Ky., and Naperville, Ill.
Junior William Koeck broke his own Marquette program record in the men’s hammer throw with a top distance of 61.23 meters (200 feet, 11 inches) at Louisville’s Cardinal Twilight. The Winneconne, Wis., native placed third, while redshirt junior Bret Hardin was sixth at a mark of 59.54 meters (195 feet, 4 inches).
Freshman John Krzyszkowski won the javelin at Louisville with a top toss of 62.25 meters (204 feet 3 inches), while senior Kristen Gaffey competed in both the shot put and discus. Gaffey placed sixth in the shot put and eighth in the discus.
At the Gregory Invitational, freshman Omo Tseumah placed second in the women’s high jump at a height of 1.69 meters (5 feet, 6.50 inches). Tseumah failed in three attempts at 1.75 meters.
The Golden Eagles return to action at the West Preliminary Rounds of the 2014 NCAA Championships on May 29-31 in Fayetteville, Ark.
