Golden Eagles Conclude Action at Gregory Invitational

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Marquette University track and field sent several individuals to the Gregory Invitational hosted by North Central College to compete in last chance meets this week and capped their respective regular seasons with strong performances.

In the women's 5,000 meters, junior Jennifer Parker ran a season-best time of 17:38.99 and held off Kaitlyn Arnold of Alma by less than 2 seconds to take home the win. In the men's 5,000 meters, freshman Ryan Burd placed fifth with a time of 15:42.92.

Junior Will Wolf turned in a solid season-ending and personal-best mark in the triple jump, winning the event with a leap of 14.72 meters (48 feet, 3.5 inches).

Derek Gross recorded a sixth-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.21, falling just 16 tenths of a second shy of his personal-best mark.

Junior William Eggers, whose score of 6,560 in the decathlon would have registered as the No. 3 mark all-time at Marquette if he wasn't competing unattached. The St. Paul, Minn., native set four personal-bests on day two and won three events during competition, including the 100-meter dash, pole vault and javelin.

The Golden Eagles will send four student-athletes to the NCAA West Prelims next week in Austin, Texas as Daniel Armstrong (high jump), Brittney Feivor (10,000 meters), John Krzyszkowski (javelin) and Jessica Parker (800 meters) compete for an opportunity to advance to the NCAA Championships for the first time.
