Sarah MacCourtney Ties For 15th at NCAA First Round

AUSTIN, Texas - Despite seemingly never-ending rain and lightning delays, Marquette's Sarah MacCourtney was able to post a 15th-place finish Friday evening at the West Preliminary Rounds of the 2013 NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas.
MacCourtney cleared 5 feet, 7 inches (1.70 meters) to tie with three other individuals for 15th place in the event. The Rochester Hills, Mich., native was just outside the qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships as the top-12 individuals earned the right to advance to Eugene, Ore.
The weather did cause Will Koeck's participation in the men's hammer throw to be pushed back to Saturday morning. Koeck and the other men's hammer throwers willl compete Saturday at 10 a.m.
Jack Hackett will conclude the weekend’s action in the 5,000-meter run under the lights at 8:45 p.m. Saturday.

All athletes in Austin are attempting to advance through this weekend’s preliminary rounds to compete in the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore. The Golden Eagles are represented by their largest contingent of student-athletes since they sent eight to Austin in 2010.
