LAWRENCE, Kan. – Day one of the 2016 NCAA West Preliminary Round didn’t go as planned on the account of Mother Nature wreaking havoc on the region with severe storms suspending the day’s events in the early going. A revised schedule sees all four Marquette student-athletes slated to compete on Friday.

Storms struck the Lawrence area around 3 p.m. Central time, evacuating Rock Chalk Park at the University of Kansas. Rolling storms would continue throughout the evening and action was unable to resume, forcing officials to completely rearrange the schedule for action on Friday and Saturday.

As a result, Marquette will be well represented on the field and the track on Friday. Junior Dwayne Dash Jr. will get things started with the long jump at 9 a.m. Central time, followed by sophomore Cassy Goodrich in the 400-meter dash at 10:10 a.m.

Junior John Krzyszkowski, who was the long Golden Eagle originally scheduled to compete on Friday, will do so in the javelin as scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Meanwhile, senior Wally Ellenson will need to alter his plans by more than 24 hours.

The three-time outdoor All-American wasn’t slated to compete in the high jump until Saturday at 5:30 p.m., but the new schedule will require all 24 competitors to compete at 2:30 p.m. on Friday instead.

Live video coverage will accommodate the revised schedule and begin at 8 a.m. provided by Live links can be found above.
