Fayetteville, Ark. - Complete Results
Senior Cassie Peller's bid to represent the Marquette University track & field team at the national meet fell just short Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Mideast Regional in Fayetteville, Ark. With the top five finishers earning automatic bids to the event, Peller collected a time of 4:28.29 to finish sixth in the finals. Peller must now hope to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA's, made possible if one of the qualified participants is unable to compete. Peller was just over three seconds behind fifth-place finisher Tarah McKay of Louisville. "I am really proud of the group that participated this weekend," head coach Bert Rogers said. "Competing in a league like the BIG EAST really prepares us for competing at an event at this level." Also competing for the Golden Eagles Saturday was junior Rachel Thiel, who finished 30th in the shot put. Her distance of 45-6.50 wasn't good enough to advance to the finals.
