NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Redshirt senior sprinter Tyler O'Brien recorded the top time in Marquette history in the 200-meter dash and captured the meet title Friday evening at the Blue and Gold Invitational hosted by the University of Notre Dame at the Loftus Sports Center.

In additon to a personal record of 21.75 seconds, the senior also placed second in the 60-meter finsihing at 7.00 flat.

The Golden Eagles won three events to highlight the day. Kate Hein placed first in the 500-meter dash with a BIG EAST qualifying mark of 1:17.07 followed by teammate Stephanie Grant who finished runner-up with a time of 1:17.63, barely missing the BIG EAST qualifying mark by 39 hundreths of a second.

Michael Saindon won the men's high jump with a mark of 2.07m (6 feet, 7 inches) to match a personal best, which is also tied for sixth all-time in the Marquette record book.

James Muehleman also hit a BIG EAST qualifying mark in the men's triple jump by placing second at 13.48m, as did Kyle Winter (4th, 2:27.08) and Benjamin Schmitz (7th, 2:29.26) in the 1,000-meter run.

Other notable performances included a second-place finish by Michael Kemmerer in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:06:76 in his collegiate debut. In addition the men's 1600-meter relay posted a runner-up showing (3:22.89).
