MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's and women's track and field squads are set to make the trek to Minneapolis this Friday and Saturday, Jan 27-28, where they will compete in the Jack Johnson Classic hosted by the University of Minnesota.

The Golden Eagles will head to the Jack Johnson Classic for the first time since 2015, looking build on a successful meet at the John Tierney Classic last weekend. MU had multiple record-setting efforts and recorded clean 4-0 dual sweeps on both sides in what was a great start to 2017.

The Blue and Gold produced victories in 12 individual events and set 49 personal-bests, while notching two facility records at the Klotsche Center in Milwaukee. Additionally, Marquette's Gemma Tedeschi and Cassy Goodrich each made history by setting new school records. Tedeschi's mark of 3.92 meters (12 feet, 10.25 inches) won the pole vault and led to earning BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week honors for the first time this season. Goodrich won two events, including setting the MU standard in the 300 meters with a time of 39.48 seconds.

This weekend's competition will mark Marquette's return to the Jack Johnson Classic for the first time in two seasons. The Golden Eagles performed well back in 2015 as the team produced seven top-10 program marks highlighted by then-freshman Alec Miller's win in the 800 meters.

Following the meet at Minnesota, Marquette will make their annual trip to Notre Dame for the Meyo Invitational, which takes place Friday-Saturday, Feb. 3-4.
