Marquette Travels to Jack Johnson Invitational

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's and women's track and field teams resume indoor at the University of Minnesota for the Jack Johnson Invitational Friday, Jan. 30 and Saturday, Jan.31.
Competition at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse begins Friday on the track with the women's pentathlon 60-meter hurdles at 3 p.m. Central time, and is rounded out with the men's heptathlon 800-meter run. Saturday's action kicks off with the men's heptathlon 60-meter hurdles at 10 a.m., while the men's 4x400-meter relay race wraps up the meet at 5:55 p.m.
In the Golden Eagles' most recent action, they turned in an excellent performance at the John Tierney Triangular on the campus of University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Between both the men's and women's squads, MU collected 14 event titles. The Marquette women claimed 10 out of the possible 13 event titles, while the men notched four victories collectively. The women defeated both University of Illinois-Chicago and UWM, while the men were victorious against UIC but fell to UWM.
Freshman Cassy Goodrich will look to continue what has been a very hot start to her collegiate career. After posting impressive finishes at both the Blue and Gold Invitational and the Wisconsin Open. The Franksville, Wisconsin native again wowed in last weekend's competition.
Goodrich tied a 14-year old program record with a mark of 39.56 seconds in the 300-meter run, tying Jennifer Batie's mark from Feb. 16, 2001. Goodrich's time also broke a 21-year old Klotsche Center facility record of 40.04 second. She is slated to compete in 200-meter run at Minnesota.
On the men's side, Oumaru Abdulahi has been one of MU's best high jumpers during the indoor campaign, with top four finishes at each of the first two meets. Abdulahi won the high jump at Milwaukee, tying a personal-best mark of 2.10 meters. In addition to the high jump, the Abdulahi will also see action in the long jump for the Golden Eagles.
Marquette travels to the University of Minnesota for the first time since it competed in the Jack Johnson Minnesota Classic in January of 2006.
Following the meet at Minnesota, MU travels to the Meyo Invitational in Notre Dame, Indiana Friday, Feb. 6 and Saturday, Feb. 7.
