MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men’s track and field team earned its highest regional ranking of 13th in the Great Lakes Region, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Tuesday morning.

The Golden Eagles jumped two spots in the latest ranking, improving from 15th in the first index of 2012. It is the highest the men’s squad has been listed in the regional rankings since they began during the 2010 season.

The MU men have notched 30 individual BIG EAST Conference-qualifying marks through the season’s first four meets and have seen 14 individuals move up the program’s all-time top-10 lists.

A new school record was set in the 200-meter dash by senior sprinter Tyler O’Brien at the Notre Dame Blue and Gold Invitational on Dec. 2 with a time of 21.75 seconds.

The Golden Eagles compete this weekend at the Meyo Invitational at Notre Dame before heading to the Hoosier Hills Invitational on Feb. 10 in preparation for the BIG EAST Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Feb. 18.
