MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's and women's track and field teams will travel to the prestigious Meyo Invitational Friday and Saturday in Notre Dame, Ind. at the Loftus Sports Center.

"This meet is right up there with the BIG EAST Championships," head coach Bert Rogers said. "It will be the most competitive meet that we have been at so far this season. It is a great opportunity for us to face good competition and see where we are at and how we stack up with that competition."

Competition is slated to begin Friday at 5 p.m. Eastern Time with the women's long jump and will conclude following the men's 500-meter run at 9 p.m.

On Saturday, the unseeded sections of the running events will take place, beginning with the women's 3,000-meter run at 9 a.m. ET until the men's 200-meter dash at 1:30 p.m. The seeded sections will kick off with the men's high jump at 1 p.m. and continue throughout the afternoon until the men's 1,600-meter relay at 4:40 p.m.

Running in the mile will be sophomore Jack Hackett, who recorded the seventh-fastest time (4:09.57) in school history in the event last Friday at the Indiana Relays. Junior Peter Bolgert and freshman Patrick Maag will complete the trio in the event for the men.

Senior Shawn McLarney will look to improve upon last week's season-best long jump of 6.93 meters. McLarney will also try to keep his two-week winning streak in the event in tact.

After a week's hiatus, the throwers will return to competition as well.  Improving on his own personal-best mark in the weight throw by over a meter at the Milwaukee dual meet, senior Jeff Kluge will continue in his pursuit of All-American Dan Fax's school record.

On the women's side, sophomore Stephanie Grant will compete in the 400-meter dash after etching her name in MU's record books following last week's performance at the Indiana Relays. At IU, Grant ran a time of 58.14 seconds to qualify her for the 2009 BIG EAST Indoor Championships and tie her for the third-fastest time in school history.

Junior Oliva Johnson will try her hand at both the mile and the 1,000-meter run, following a second-place finish in the 800 at Indiana.
