The Marquette University men’s and women’s track and field teams take to Grand Valley State Big Meet in Allendale, Michigan at the Kelly Family Sports Center on Friday.

Friday’s events will unfold at 9 a.m. Central time with the men's and women's 5,000 meters. Field events will take action starting at 11 a.m. Central. The meet will conclude with the 4x400-meter relays at 7:30 p.m.

The Golden Eagles look to build off last week's momentum and continue preparation for the BIG EAST Championships which linger just two weeks away. The squad is coming off a solid performances at the Meyo Invitational at Notre Dame and the Ranger Classic at UW-Parkside.

The Meyo Invitational was a day of season-bests for the women’s side as Jessica Parker finished the mile in 4:50.62, Cassy Goodrich ran the BIG EAST's fastest 400 meters this season at 54.98, Alison Parker raced to an 800-meter time of 2:11.88, while anchoring a solid showing by the 4x400-meter relay team along with Madison Marko, Monique Felix and Terica Harris, posting a time of 3:52.67.

At Parkside, the men's and women's teams were triumphant in the team classificaiton thanks to efforts from the likes of Catherine Sherwood, who recorded a personal-best in the long jump with a distance 5.62 meters (18 feet, 5.24 inches) and Lindsay Billing setting a personal-best in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.65.

The men’s effort were impressive as well as Max McIelland was just short of his personal-best in the 3,000 meters when he crossed the finish line in 8:54.85, only two-hundredths of a second off his PR. Terrance Howard also had a big day, placing second in weight throw and fourth in shot put.

Following Friday’s action, the Golden Eagles will travel to Madison next Friday, February 17, to compete at the Red & White Open hosted by Wisconsin. Marquette’s throwers highlighted last year’s meet setting several top-10 marks.
