NEW YORK – Marquette University sophomore Monique Felix has earned BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Felix claims the award for the second time in three weeks and the fifth time in her career, including four indoor athlete of the week awards, after rising to No. 2 in the BIG EAST rankings and No. 3 all-time at Marquette with her impressive mark in the triple jump. It also gives Marquette four-of-six weekly winners on the year in the category as Terica Harris (Dec. 13) and Gemma Tedeschi (Jan. 24) also claimed the honor.

The Sheboygan, Wisconsin, native set a personal-best with a distance of 12.11 meters (39 feet, 8.75 inches) to take third place overall at the GVSU BIG Meet on Friday.

The reigning BIG EAST indoor pentathlon champion looks to defend her crown in less than 2 weeks when the team heads to the indoor conference championships, Feb. 24-25.

Marquette’s final tune-up will take place in Madison at the Red & White Open hosted by the University of Wisconsin on Friday, Feb. 17.
