Official BIG EAST Release
Sophomore Monica Voudrie set the No. 4 mark all-time at Marquette when she took third place in the weight throw at the UW Shell Shocker meet last Friday. Her toss of 18.06 meters (59 feet, 3 inches) leads the BIG EAST this season going into the conference championships this weekend.
The award for Voudrie is her first of the season and the fifth for a Marquette women’s field athlete in seven awarded weeks, joining Terica Harris (Dec. 13), Gemma Tedeschi (Jan. 24) and Monique Felix (Jan. 31, Feb. 14).
Junior Dwayne Dash Jr. jumped 6.72 meters (22 feet, 0.75 inches) to take home the win in the long jump at the UW Shell Shocker meet on Friday. Dash already currently holds the BIG EAST’s leading jump in the event going into this weekend’s championships with a distance of 7.29 meters (23 feet, 11 inches).
Dash picks up his first award of the indoor season and joins Joel McBride, who was awarded field athlete of the week back on Jan. 31.
The Golden Eagles will head to the BIG EAST Indoor Championships, which will take place at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Facility in Staten Island, N.Y., Friday-Saturday, Feb. 24-25.
