- The Marquette University men's and women's track & field teams open up the 2015 outdoor campaign with athletes traveling to Texas State University, University of Texas and Southern Illinois University for three separate competitions spanning Thursday, March 26 to Saturday, March 28.

Most of the team will make the trip to Carbondale, Illinois to compete at the Bill Cornell Invitational on Saturday, while a select group of sprinters, jumpers and throwers will be traveling to Texas to enter the Texas State Bobcat Invitational and the 88th Clyde Littlefield Relays.

Competition Thursday will open with Samantha Kennedy, Kathryn Koeck, John Krzyszkowski, Bret Hardin and William Koeck all throwing the hammer at the Texas Relays, while Maya Marion will head over to Texas State to throw the discuss.

On Friday, Tatyana Pashibin and Omo Tseumah will get their first outdoor high jump action of the season at Texas State and, later that night, Cassy Goodrich and Anna Strong will sprint in the 400-meter run.

During the final day of competition at Texas, Wally Ellenson will make his outdoor high jumping debut as a member of the Blue and Gold. The junior transfer and Rice Lake, Wisconsin native is coming off a bronze medal finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships two weeks following a jump of 7 feet, 3.75 inches.

As a member of Minnesota's track and field team last year, Ellenson finished runner-up at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships with an outdoor personal-best jump of 7 feet, 4.50 inches. With that mark, he is currently ranked fourth in the USTFCCCA.org preseason outdoor high jump rankings.

Bill Cornell Invitational (Southern Illinois)

On Saturday, 49 sprinters and jumpers will compete at the Lew Hartzog Track and Field Complex during an all day meet.

After placing 28 athletes on the All-BIG EAST Conference Indoor team and finishing a program-best second overall at the conference meet, MU is looking to start the outdoor season strong.

Joel Swanberg, who took home top prize in the pole vault and heptathlon at the BIG EAST indoors, will compete in the pole vault and 110-meter hurdles.

After a third-place finish in the distance medley relay,Aric Miller, Ryan Shields,David SajdakandAlec Miller are all being considered in 4x400-meter relay. On the women's side,Nicole Ethier,Jessica Parker,Krista McClureandJennifer Parker, who ran the fourth-best distance medley mark in program history at the BIG EAST indoors, will also be among those considered to compete in the mile-long relay.

Following this weekend's events, both the men's and women's teams will return to action April 2-4, to take part in the Eastern Illinois Big Blue Invitational in Charleston, Illinois.
