The Marquette University men’s and women’s track and field teams head to the “Show Me State” to compete in meets at SEMO and Washington University on Friday-Saturday, March 30-31.

Following a successful open to the 2018 outdoor season at the UNF Spring Break Invite, the Golden Eagles take their talents to Missouri to compete at the Joey Haines Invitational (Friday-Saturday) in Cape Girardeau and the WashU Invitational (Friday) in St. Louis.

MU sends 12 women and 13 men – all distance – to WashU to race in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters on Friday night. This will be the first action of the outdoor season for the distance crew as none competed at North Florida a week ago. Friday’s action begins just before 5 p.m. Central time.

The remainder of the team will head to SEMO for the third season in a row. It was at this meet a year ago that the 4x100 men’s relay team of Joshua Word, Jay Whalen, Connor Boos and Brandon Bell set the first of many records during the outdoor season.

On the women’s side, Abigail Busse raced to a win in the steeplechase, while Jessica Parker cruised to a victory in the 800 meters.

Friday’s action at SEMO will feature the men’s and women’s hammer and combined 10,000 meters. Saturday’s field events are set to begin at 11 a.m. followed by running events at noon.
