Official BIG EAST Release

NEW YORK – Following a tremendous 2016 outdoor debut, Marquette University sophomore jumper Terica Harris has been named BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Harris made her outdoor season debut at the USF Bulls Invitational back on March 17 and proceeded to win the long jump competition, setting the BIG EAST standard with the farthest jump to date, while taking third in the triple jump and setting the second-best mark in the conference this year.

The Savannah, Georgia native leaped to a career-best mark in the long jump with a distance of 5.78 meters (18 feet, 11.75 inches), which ranks fifth all-time at MU, as well as 34th in the West Region and 67th-nationally.

Her triple jump mark of 11.48 meters (37 feet, 8 inches) fell just shy of her career-best, but was good for a third-place finish at the meet.

Harris and the Golden Eagles will be back in action this Friday-Saturday, April 1-2 at the Joey Haines Invitational hosted by Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
