Official BIG EAST Release

NEW YORK – Marquette University’s Keely Knobbe and Eric Fellin have been named BIG EAST Field Athletes of the Week after impressive performances at the Joey Haines Invite over the weekend, the league office announced on Monday. This is the first career distinction for both.

Knobbe, a junior from Wadsworth, Illinois, claimed the top hammer throw mark in the BIG EAST this season with a toss of 52.61 meters (172-07 feet) at the Joey Haines Invite hosted by SEMO on Friday. Her mark was a personal-best and the No. 9 distance all-time at Marquette. She placed third in the event.

Fellin, a junior and native of Portland, Oregon, took second place in the javelin at the same meet on Saturday. His personal-best throw of 57.02 meters (187-01 feet) was fifth-best all-time at Marquette and ranks second in the BIG EAST this season.

The Golden Eagles now prepare for their lone home meet of the season on Friday, April 6, at the Melvin “Bus” Shimek Memorial Track & Field Facility.
