Men's Track & Field Ranked Eighth in Great Lakes Region

MILWAUKEE- The Marquette University men's and women's track and field teams are ranked eighth and 12th, respectively, in the Great Lakes Region, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Tuesday. 

The Golden Eagles have 17 members of the men's (12) and women's (5) track and field teams ranked among the top eight student-athletes in various events. 

This is the first set of rankings released by the USTFCCCA for the outdoor campaign and includes strong showings from the Golden Eagles at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational this past weekend. 

With their performance this last weekend, five Golden Eagles are within the top eight of the men's 10,000-meter run in the Greak Lakes Region. Juniors Connor Callahan and Patrick Maag are atop the rankings with times of 30:54.22 and 31:23.92 respectively.

Senior Carly Windt recorded a time of 36:43.74 in the women's 10,000 meters at Cincinnati, placing her sixth in the Great Lakes Region.

Sophomore Kathryn Koeck also notched a personal best of 180 feet, 3 inches (54.94 meters) in the hammer throw at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational. Koeck's throw is fifth all-time in Marquette history.


 

 

Senior Tyler O'Brien is ranked in the top eight of the 100- and 200-meter dashes, while junior Jack Hackett is fourth in the region in the men's 5,000 meters with a time of 14:29.75.

The Golden Eagles host a dual meet with Milwaukee on Thursday, April 5 at Valley Fields.
