MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's and women's track teams host DePaul, Milwaukee and Illinois-Chicago on Friday, April 4 for the 2014 Marquette Duals. Competition will take place around campus, featuring the Melvin “Bus” Shimek Memorial Track and Field Facility at Valley Fields, the MU Throws Field and the Marquette Gym.

Due to the forecast of inclement weather and high winds, the high jump and the pole vault are slated to take place indoors at the Marquette Gym located on 16th Street and Clybourn Ave. The day of competition begins with the women's pole vault and men's high jump at 11 a.m.

Also beginning at 11 a.m. is the women's javelin, taking place nearby at the MU Throws Field located approximately one mile east of the track at Sixth Street and Canal. Immediately following the conclusion of the men's and women's javelin, the discus and hammer events are set to take place at the same venue.

Field events wrap up with the horizontal jumps and the shot put, both taking place at the Shimek Track. The women's long jump and men's triple jump kick off the action at 1 p.m., while the shot put brings competition to a close at 4 p.m.

Running events are slated to commence with the women's 4x100-meter relay at 3 p.m. and will wrap up at 5:15 p.m. when the men's 4x400-meter relay hits the track.

Separate men's and women's double-dual scoring will be used. Each team will score its top two finishers in individual events and will select one top placing relay team. Individual events will be scored 5-3-2-1, while relays will score 5-3.

The steeplechase event, originally scheduled to take place, was cancelled due to safety concerns brought forth by the weather forecast.
