MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's and women's track and field squads will travel to Western Illinios University this weekend to compete in the Lee Calhoun Memorial Invitational in Macomb, Ill.

The two-day competition will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday with the women's hammer throw and action will commence for the day following the men's 10,000-meter run.

The men's javelin at 9 a.m. will kick off Saturday's competition and the weekend will conclude following the men's 1,600-meter relay.

After an impressive showing in last weekend's dual meet with Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the throwers will look to keep the building upon this season's success.

On the men's side, senior captain Jeff Kluge and junior Rob Bleem are slated to compete in both discus and hammer throw,  while senior Eric Matuszewski will throw the shot put and the hammer.  Senior Joe Kohut will round out the men's throws squad.

On the women's side,  Catherine Benage will throw javelin after earning the event title in last Friday's competition.  Lauren Benjamin will also compete in the event.

Seniors Kelly Corcoran, Rachel Thiel and junior Jamie Roth will compete in the hammer in this weekend's competition.  Roth and Thiel will be joined by  Audra Ketelsen in the discus, while Thiel will be MU's lone entry in shot put.

After setting personal bests in last weekend's competition, Jenny Zahn and Chanel Franklin will return to the track in the 400-meter hurdles and the 100-meter dash, respectively.  The duo will be joined by Stephanie Grant and Alyssa Stevens in the sprint medley relay.

The meet, held on the Western Illinois track at Hanson Field, honors Western Illinois' former track and field coach and U.S. Olympian, Lee Quency Calhoun. Calhoun competed in the 1956 and 1960 Summer Olympics with former MU athletes John Bennett (long jump) and Dale Lewis (football/Greco-Roman wrestling).

Heat sheets will be available Friday morning on the meet homepage linked above.
