Marquette Track Duals Milwaukee at Valley Fields Friday

MILWAUKEE -- The Marquette University men's and women's track and field teams will compete in a dual against cross-town foe Milwaukee at Marquette's Melvin "Bus" Shimek Memorial Track and Field Facility at Valley Fields. The competition, slated for Friday, April 10, will begin with field events at 1 p.m. followed by running events at4 p.m.
The team will look to build off the success experienced last weekend at the Big Blue Invite hosted by Eastern Illinois, which was filled with numerous personal bests and first-place finishes.
Marquette has four representatives participating in the high jump, including Bridget Bodee who finished eighth last weekend amongst 30 competitors. Juniors Taylor Keating, Tatyana Pashibin, and sophomore Omo Tseumah will also represent the Blue & Gold in the event as well.
In the running events, the Golden Eagles will send out five women to compete in the 3,000-meter run, a group that includes sophomore Brittney Feivor, who took first last weekend in the 5,000-meter run at Eastern Illinois. Jessica Parker, who took first last weekend at EIU in the 1,500-meter run, will participate in the same event at Valley Fields. Meanwhile, other notable competitors to highlight women's action on Friday will be Cassy Goodrich (100m, 200m, 4x100 relay), Kellie Greenwood (800m, 4x400 pool), Katie Tolan (400m, 4x400m pool) andKathryn Koeck (shot put, discus, hammer).
On the men's side, freshman William Eggers and junior Jordan Smith will represent the men's side on three occasions during Friday's event by participating in the 400-meter dash, high jump and pole vault. Will Wolf, who placed ninth at EIU in the triple jump, will look to improve on his performance in the same event Friday.
Junior Wally Ellenson, who took third place in the high jump at the 2015 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship will look to improve on his outdoor mark of 7 feet, 2.25 inches, which set a school record at the Texas Relays earlier this season.
The dual is the first, and only home meet of the season for Marquette. The team will next travel to California to participate in three separate meetsin over a three-day stretch.
