BIG EAST Release

NEW YORK
-- Marquette University redshirt-senior thrower Kathryn Koeck, sophomore distance runner Kellie Greenwood and freshman pole vaulter William Ford were all named BIG EAST Conference track & field weekly award winners, the league office announced Tuesday, April 14.

This marks the second consecutive BIG EAST Female Athlete of the Week honor for Koeck, who once again broke her own school record in the hammer throw. The Winneconne, Wisconsin native became the first female to eclipse the 200-foot mark with her throw of 61.12 meters (200 feet, 6 inches) in a dual meet against Milwaukee last Friday, April 10. Her throw ranks first among BIG EAST competitors in the event by more than 19 feet and ranks 10th in the West region and 17th in NCAA.

Greenwood picks up her first weekly award after setting a personal record and topping the BIG EAST list with a win in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Big Blue Classic at Eastern Illinois University on April 4. Her time of 10:40.54 is fastest in the conference by nearly 27 seconds and is third-best in Marquette history. The Two Rivers, Wisconsin native's time also ranks 69th in the nation and 29th in the West region.

Ford also claims his first weekly honor after taking first place and setting a personal record in the pole vault in the team's dual meet against Milwaukee last Friday. The McHenry, Illinois native's height of 4.60 meters (15 feet, 1 inch) ranks second in the BIG EAST so far this season.
