Each week throughout the 2012-13 indoor and outdoor track and field seasons, a men's and women's performance will be highlighted on as the Marquette Track & Field Performances of the Week.

MILWAUKEE - This week's Marquette Track and Field Performances of the Week feature freshman Sarah Poirier and sophomore William Koeck. The duo turned in breakthrough performances in action at the Lee Calhoun Invitational on April 13.

Poirier led the field in the 5,000-meter run, en route to a winning time of 17:45.78. Poirier paced two other Marquette harriers behind her to second and third place, and her run was good enough for a new personal best.

Koeck continues to shine, as this week he set the Marquette program record in the hammer throw with a top distance of 193 feet, 7 inches, done on his first throw. Koeck's mark of 59.01 meters tops the old MU record of 57.53 meters (188 feet, 9 inches) by over one meter.

Next weekend will be a busy one for Marquette men's and women's track and field, as it will send athletes to six different locations featuring trips to California, Illinois and La Crosse, Wis.
