MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men’s and women’s track and field teams will make their way to the University of Illinois to compete in the Illinois Twilight in Champaign, Ill. on Saturday, April 23.

A total of 37 men and 32 women will be heading to Illinois this Saturday. The action begins at 12 p.m. Central time with throwing events, followed by running and jumping events at 4 p.m. CT.

Cassy Goodrich has earned a weekend of rest after an impressive performance over a trio of meets in California last week, setting three personal-bests, while breaking two school records in the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dash events. At the Bryan Clay Invitational, she broke her own record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.18 seconds, which ranks third in the BIG EAST this season. Goodrich also broke her own record in the 400-meter dash at the Beach Invitational with a time of 53.73 seconds, which was good for a fifth-place finish and ranks 16th on the West regional rankings.

On the men’s side, the 4x100-meter relay team of Connor Boos, Jay Whalen, Brandon Bell and Karl Tatum came out on top, setting the No. 2 mark all-time at MU with a time of 41.72 seconds. It was the fastest time this season in the BIG EAST. Tatum (10.93), Bell (10.95) and Boos (10.96) also impressed in the men’s 100-meter dash, each finishing in under 11 seconds.

Additionally, Kayla Spencer (17:00.02) and Clare McDonald (17:01.13) each set personal-best marks in the 5,000-meter run at the Azusa Pacific, while Alec Miller (3:48.17), Aric Miller (3:52.55) and William Hennessy (3:58.55) set personal-bests of their own in the 1,500 meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational.

In total, the Golden Eagles set 19 personal-best marks, seven top-10 marks, and two school records. After several meets to begin the outdoor season, both sides appear to be hitting their stride. Only three weeks remain until the 2016 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships take place in Geneva, Ohio May 13-14.
