Each week throughout the 2012-13 indoor and outdoor track and field seasons, a men's and women's performance will be highlighted on GoMarquette.com as the Marquette Track & Field Performances of the Week.

MILWAUKEE- The weekend of April 18-21 was packed with action for the Marquette University men’s and women’s track and field teams, as the squads sent athletes to six different meets. This week's Marquette Track and Field Performances of the Week feature seniors Jack Hackett and Sarah MacCourtney, who turned in career-best performances while in California.

Hackett, who ran a time of 14:05.66 in the men’s 5,000-meter run at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., greatly increased his chances of solidifying a spot in the West Preliminary Rounds of the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. His time is almost 10 seconds faster than his previous PR of 14:14.45, which he set at the same meet last season.

MacCourtney, who competed at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., placed second in the women’s high jump with a height of 5 feet, 8 inches (1.73 meters), which is a personal best and the No. 4 all-time mark at MU. MacCourtney is a mere 2.75 inches from the outdoor program record.

The 2013 outdoor season is winding down with the BIG EAST Conference Outdoor Championships only two weeks away, and possible NCAA preliminary round action for qualifying individuals to follow.
