NEW YORK –
Marquette University senior John Krzyszkowski was named BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week after winning the javelin with a huge throw at the Illinois Twilight over the weekend, the league office announced on Tuesday.

The Mississauga, Ontario, native collects his third career BIG EAST weekly honor and first of the season after throwing for a season-best with a mark of 71.44 meters (234 feet, 4 inches) to take home the win at the Illinois Twilight hosted by the University of Illinois on Saturday.

Krzyszkowski’s throw currently ranks seventh in the West Region and 13th-nationally. It fell less than a meter shy of his lifetime-best mark of 72.23 meters. The senior will by vying for his fourth BIG EAST javelin title in a few weeks and fourth-straight trip to the NCAA West Prelims in Austin, Texas at the end of May.

The Golden Eagles continue action this week at the Drake Relays, Thursday-Saturday, April 27-29, and the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative meet on Saturday.
