Official BIG EAST Release

NEW YORK – Marquette University junior thrower John Krzyszkowski was named BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week following his recent record-breaking performance, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Krzyszkowski picks up his second career BIG EAST weekly award following a performance in which he shattered his own school record in the javelin throw. The reigning BIG EAST javelin champion bested his old mark by more than 12 feet en route to a victory at the Illinois Twilight on Saturday with a toss of 69.39 meters (227 feet, 8 inches).

The Mississauga, Ontario native currently leads the BIG EAST by a comfortable margin as the next closest competitor comes nearly 41 feet shy of his mark. His most recent performance also ranks 14th in the West Region and 31st nationally.

Krzyszkowski will head to the historic Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa where he will compete against some of the nation’s top athletes on Friday at 10 a.m. Central time.
