DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Golden Eagles completed day two of the Drake Relays this afternoon with several outstanding performances.

The men's 1,600m sprint medley relay team of Matt Piekarski, Ray Bratchett, Jon Shaffer, and Jed Burey clocked 3:28.12, good for 10th place. The women's 4x1600m relay team of Cassie Peller, Tara Hinke, Kaitlyn Chambers, Michaela Courtney finished fourth overall in a time of 20:00.18. Individually, Jessica Ehlen finished 16th overall in the hammer throw, with a toss of 163'5" (49.80m).

On Friday, April 28, several Marquette athletes competed at the Kip Janvrin Open at Simpson College in Indianola, Ind.

Jon Shaffer won the 800m run, clocking 1:54.33. Andy Ballard was third in the shot put, with a heave of 51'7" (15.72m). Jeff Kluge was fifth, tossing 48'3 1/2" (14.72m). Ballard was also third in the discus throw, with a toss of 159'9" (48.70m), while Kluge was sixth (148'8"/45.32m).

Christina Flowers was fourth in the long jump, with a leap of 17'4" (5.28m). Jessica Ehlen was fourth in the discus throw, with a toss of 130'6" (39.79m).
