Track & Field Performances of the Week: Koeck and Schuh
May 1, 2013
Each week throughout the 2012-13 indoor and outdoor track and field seasons, a men's and women's performance will be highlighted on GoMarquette.com as the Marquette Track & Field Performances of the Week.
MILWAUKEE - Sophomore William Koeck and junior Carlye Schuh's breakthrough performances this week at the Benedictine Twilight Invitational are recognized as this week's Marquette Track and Field Performances of the Week.
In the men's hammer throw, Koeck registered a mark of 59.91 meters, which is nearly a meter further than his previous-best performance. On March 13, the Winneconne, Wis., native became the new program record holder in the event when he threw 59.01 meters at the Lee Calhoun Invitational. Koeck will focus solely on the event next week at BIG EAST.
In the women's long jump, Schuh not only raised the bar on her own program record, she did it twice in the same meet. The Appleton, Wis., native came into the meet with a record jump of 5.94 meters, and was able to better that mark with breakthrough leaps on her second (6.00 meters) and fourth (6.05 meters) attempts. In addition to doing the long jump at BIG EAST, Schuh will also compete in the 100-meter dash and the 4x100-meter relay.
Action at the BIG EAST Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships will take place from May 3-5 in Piscataway, N.J.
