MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men’s and women’s track and field teams will compete at the Wisconsin Twilight hosted by UW-Madison on Friday, May 6. The meet will serve as the final tune-up for the Golden Eagles prior to the 2016 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships.

The Golden Eagles will send 36 men and 30 women to Friday's meet, which is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. Central time with field events, starting with the women’s and men’s hammer throw, followed by running events with the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 6 p.m. Live results will be available here.

Last week, Marquette competed at both the Drake Relays and UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative. At Drake, the men’s 4x200-meter relay team highlighted a bevy of impressive performances as Jay Whalen, Nicholas Ebert, Connor Boos and Brandon Bell combined to break the 78-year-old school record in the event with a time of 1:26.12.

On Sunday, two more records fell as William Ford and Gemma Tedeschi set new all-time bests in the pole vault at the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative meet. Tedeschi, who was named BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, recorded a leap of 3.86 meters (12 feet, 8 inches) to take second place at the meet. The mark broke the previous school record set in 2008 by half an inch.

Ford soared to a new school-record in the pole vault as well. The sophomore vaulted to a height of 4.85 meters (15 feet, 11 inches) to take second place in the event and pulled into a tie for the top mark in the BIG EAST this season in the process.

Following Friday's action, Marquette will prepare for the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships in Geneva, Ohio May 13-14. Both men's and women's teams recorded their best-ever finishes in 2015 with matching runner-up places.
