Track & Field Trio Claims BIG EAST Weekly Honors

Marion broke Rachel Thiel's 8-year-old Marquette record in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 15.31 meters (50-2.75 feet) at the Wisconsin Twilight on Saturday. Marion’s toss was good for fourth place and extended her top mark in the BIG EAST this season to nearly a foot farther then the next closest competitor. It also ranks 42nd in the region and 85th nationally.
McKinney moved up three spots on Marquette’s all-time list in the hammer throw with the fifth-best toss in school history and a third-place finish at the Wisconsin Twilight. The Arlington Heights, Illinois, native posted a mark of 56.82 meters, which ranks atop the BIG EAST this season and is 71st in the West Region.
Parker finished runner-up in the 800 meters at the Wisconsin Twilight on Saturday. The Neenah, Wisconsin, native set just missed setting a personal-best with a time of 1:07.08, which is fourth-fastest in the BIG EAST this season. It also lists as 28th in the West Region and 58th nationally.
The Golden Eagles are making their final preparations leading up to the 2018 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships scheduled for Friday-Saturday, May 11-12 in Geneva, Ohio. The last time the league championships were held at the SPIRE Institute, Marquette came away with a sweep of both the men’s and women’s outdoor titles.
