MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men’s and women’s track and field teams return to action on Thursday, May 9 and Friday, May 10 in a pair of last-chance meets at the Dr. Keeler Invitational in Naperville, Ill., and at the University of Louisville’s Cardinal Twilight.

With the completion of the BIG EAST Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships last weekend, the athletes will focus on moving up qualifying lists for the West Preliminary Rounds of the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Others will attempt to get in one more solid performance before the end of the year.

Marquette will begin competition at the Dr. Keeler Invitational at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday with the 5,000- and 10,000-meter runs. Action resumes Friday at 2 p.m. with freshman Brett Tobin competing in the long and triple jump, while running events will continue at 4 p.m. The Invitational is held by North Central College at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

Events for the Cardinal Twilight will be held at the University of Louisville’s Cardinal Park, beginning Friday at 9 a.m. CT with the throwing events, while field events begin at 10:30 a.m. CT. Marquette’s contingent in Louisville will include just jumpers and throwers.

Senior Kyle Winter will compete in the 800-meter run at the Dr. Keeler Invitational and will try to improve upon his 47th-place standing in the qualifying list for the West Regional. His season’s best time of 1:50.24 was recorded at the BIG EAST meet on Saturday afternoon in the 800 final.

Those looking to improve their chances of solidifying a qualifying position at Louisville include high jumpers Cheldon Brown, Michael Saindon and Sarah MacCourtney, as well as Kathryn and William Koeck in the hammer throw.
