MILWAUKEE -- The Marquette University men's and women's track and field teams will send 13 student-athletes to the Gregory Invitational hosted by North Central College, March 14-15, as a last chance attempt to qualify for the NCAA West Region Preliminary Rounds.

Action will commence late Thursday morning, March 14, as senior Bret Hardin, senior Samantha Kennedy and freshman Maya Marion compete in the hammer throw. Marion, who won the 2015 BIG EAST Outdoor crown in the shot put last weekend, will also take part in the discus event on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Hardin (60) and Kennedy (74), who currently rank in the region's top-75, will look to improve those marks. Kennedy was the 2014 BIG EAST champion in the hammer throw.

Another recently crowned BIG EAST champion, junior Tatyana Pashibin, will look to take the momentum from a high jump title last weekend to improve her mark at the last chance meet. She currently comes in ranked 70th in the region in the event with a height of 1.71 meters (5-7.25 feet).

Sophomore Nicole Jaffke and Freshman William Ford wrap up a list of six field performers for the Golden Eagles as they get set to compete in the pole vault on Thursday.

On the track, sophomore Clare McDonald and her freshman sister Maeve McDonald will run in the women's 5,000 meters, while freshman Corey White will compete in the men's 5,000-meter run on Thursday. White will also take part in the men's 800-meter run on Friday.

Also entered in the 800-meter run will be junior Ryan Shields for the men and freshman Jennifer Parker for the women. Freshman Jessica Parker is entered in the 1,500-meter run, while junior William Hennessy will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Athletes competing this weekend will attempt to move up the NCAA West Region rankings and solidify themselves among the region's top-48 competitors. The NCAA West Prelims are set for May 28-30 in Austin, Texas. There, the top-12 competitors in each event will advance to the NCAA Division I Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
