NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Several student-athletes made their final appearances of the season for the Marquette University men's and women's track and field teams this evening, May 15, as competition concluded at the Gregory Invitational hosted by North Central College.

In the 5,000-meter run, Corey White and Clare McDonald each set big personal-best marks on the men's and women's side, respectively. McDonald's time was good enough for fourth place.

Jessica Parker then followed up with a new PR and a big victory in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:30.01, besting Chicago's Brianna Hickey by more than a second.

In the men's 800-meter run, Ryan Shields ran a PR of 1:53.44, which was good enough for third place in his heat and ninth overall. On the women's side, Jennifer Parker placed 11th with a time of 2:14.86.

William Hennessy crushed his previous best mark in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:15.68 to place 12th overall

In the pole vault, Nicole Jaffke cleared 3.71 meters (12-2 feet) to place fifth, while William Ford flew over the bar standing 14-10.

Tatyana Pashibin took fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.64 meters (5-4.5 feet).

Redshirt-senior Bret Hardin tossed a PR in the hammer throw in his final meet in the Blue and Gold with a third place finish and a distance of 58.02 meters (190-04 feet).

Senior Samantha Kennedy also ended her Marquette career with a strong third place finish in the women's hammer throw with a toss of 54.26 meters (178-00 feet). Meanwhile, Maya Marion took fifth in the women's discus with a throw of 40.32 meters (132-03 feet). 

The Golden Eagles return to action at the NCAA West Preliminary rounds as the top-48 in each event gather in Austin, Texas May 28-30, with the opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
