Track & Field Teams Compete at UW-L Last Chance Meet, North Central Invite
May 16, 2007 MILWAUKEE - The Marquette men's and women's track & field teams will conclude the scheduled portion of their 2007 season, May 17-18, with one final chance at qualifying for the NCAA Mideast Regional. Three Golden Eagles will compete, Thursday, in the UW-L Last Chance Meet in La Crosse, Wis., while others from the teams will participate in the North Central Invite in Naperville, Ill., Thursday and Friday. Individuals will compete for the right to join the six student-athletes who have already qualified for the NCAA Mideast Regional, which will be hosted by the University of Missouri, May 25-26. Senior Tommy Schmitz became the most recent qualifier after breaking the Marquette 1,500m record, previously held by head coach David Uhrich, at the Georgia Tech Invitational, May 11, in a time of 3:45.11. Others competing in the regional include senior Michaela Courtney and Cassie Peller in the 1,500m, senior Damian Anisko in the hammer throw and discus, junior Michael Boedeker in the discus and sophomore Scott Mueller in the 5,000m.
