OSHKOSH, Wis. – Three Marquette track and field student-athletes competed in their final meets of the season Friday, May 18 with freshman William Koeck and junior Kyle Winter notching personal bests at the UW-Oshkosh NCAA Qualifier and Gregory Invitational, respectively.

Koeck’s hammer throw distance of 182 feet, 7 inches (55.65 meters) qualifies as the No. 7 mark in program history to help him finish fifth at the meet. Koeck was joined by his sister, Kathryn Koeck, who finished fourth in the women’s hammer throw with a top mark of 181 feet, 7 inches (55.35 meters).

Winter, competing at North Central College’s Gregory Invitational in Naperville, Ill., ran the men’s 400-meter dash in 48.16 seconds to place second. That mark improved upon his PR, currently the No. 6 mark all-time at MU.

Senior sprinter Tyler O'Brien will be the lone athlete representing the Marquette track and field team at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships West Preliminary Rounds on May 25-26 in Austin, Texas. He will compete in the men's 200-meter dash, in which he enters seeded 39th overall.
