Krzyszkowski Makes History On Final Day at West Prelims
May 30, 2015
AUSTIN, Texas-- A pair of sophomores led the way for the Marquette University men's and women's track and field team on the final day of competition, today, May 30, at the NCAA West Region Preliminaries at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
John Krzyszkowski marked the third MU male to compete at the West Prelims and joined his other two teammates in making history as he broke his own school record in the javelin throw. On his second attempt, the Mississauga, Ontario native recorded a toss of 65.54 meters (215-0 feet). It surpassed his previous personal best mark by 9 inches and put him in seventh place after the second of three flights in the competition.
The third flight featured the region's top performers on the season to date and most of them proved their standing as Krzyszkowski dropped to 18th place at the end of the competition, missing out on a top-12 bid and a trip to the NCAA Finals. It marked his second trip to the West Prelims and he improved 13 spots on his 31st seeding entering the meet.
Fellow sophomore Brittney Feivor was able to improve on a low seeding as well. After entering the 5,000-meter run as the 48th and final entry, the Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin native finished 14th in her heat and 25th overall with a time of 16:44.62.
Feivor was coming off a third-place finish in the 5,000-meter run at the BIG EAST Conference Championships and continued her momentum and a solid finish to the season with a gutsy performance amid hot and humid conditions today.
