Krzyszkowski Sixth, Kennedy 10th, at Canadian Championships

MONCTON, New Brunswick – A pair of Marquette University track and field student-athletes registered top-10 finishes over the weekend at the 2014 Canadian Track and Field Championships in Moncton, New Brunswick. Rising sophomore John Krzyszkowski placed sixth in the men’s javelin on Saturday, while senior Samantha Kennedy was 10th in the women’s hammer throw on Sunday.
Krzyszkowski recorded a top throw of 66.64 meters on his fifth throw of Saturday evening. The Mississauga, Ontario native is the reigning BIG EAST champion in the event and was the silver medalist at the 2013 Canadian Junior Championships last summer. He also finished third at last year’s Pan American Junior Athletics Championships in the javelin.
Kennedy, also a 2014 BIG EAST champion, placed 10th with a throw of 54.85 meters in the women's hammer throw, which she recorded on her second toss of Sunday afternoon.
The Surrey, British Columbia native also competed in the hammer throw at the 2012 Canadian Championships and placed 12th overall, and was the gold medal winner in the same event at the 2012 Canadian Junior Championships.
