EDMONTON, Alta. – A pair of Marquette University throwers took part in the 2015 Canadian Track & Field Championships over the weekend. John Krzyszkowski (javelin) and Samantha Kennedy (hammer) each took sixth place in their respective events to close out the 2015 season.
Krzyszkowski finished sixth in the javelin throw with a distance of 62.63 meters (205 feet, 5 inches). The Mississauga, Ontario native tied the mark of Kyle Nielsen, who placed fifth after setting the mark on his first attempt. Krzyszkowski’s top mark came on his fifth of six attempts in the competition.
The winning mark came from Caleb Jones, who registered a toss of 74.45 meters (244 feet, 3 inches).
Krzyszkowski, who just completed his sophomore season, currently holds Marquette’s all-time record with a toss of 65.54 meters (215 feet), which he set back on May 30 at the NCAA West Preliminaries in Austin, Texas.
Kennedy, a native of Surrey, British Columbia, ended her season with a lifetime-best mark of 58.65 meters (192 feet, 5 inches) to take sixth place in the hammer throw. Her top throw came on her third of six attempts. The winner of the competition was Sultana Frizell, who tossed a mark of 70.97 meters (232 feet, 10 inches).
Kennedy recently graduated cum laude with a major in psychology and minors in social work, criminal justice and family studies. She took third place in the hammer throw at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships in May.
