Marquette Alumna Finishes Eighth at Canadian Championships

EDMONTON - Marquette University alumna Samantha Kennedy ('15) finished in eighth place in the women's hammer throw at the Canadian Championships held at Foote Field in Edmonton, Alberta on Saturday.

After faulting on her first attempt, the Surrey, British Columbia native registered her best throw of the day with a distance of 55.69 meters (182 feet, 8 inches) on her second attempt. At the time it was good for fifth place.

Following a toss of 55.52 meters on her third attempt, she would record faults on each of her final three throws to finish in eighth place.

The 2014 BIG EAST hammer throw champion recorded a personal-best mark of 58.65 meters at a previous event to qualify her for the Canadian Championships. Her best throw as a Golden Eagle came when she clinched the 2014 BIG EAST crown with a distance of 56.13 meters.
