MILWAUKEE- The Marquette University women's track and field squad was named a 2009 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division I Women's All-Academic Track and Field Team, the USTFCCCA announced.

"I am very proud of our team and the work they do in the classroom," said head coach Bert Rogers. "They work very hard both in the classroom and on the track and the results speak for themselves. They truly are student-athletes in every sense of the word."

The Big East led all conferences with ten teams selected as All-Academic Teams for 2009 – DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Rutgers, St. John’s, Cincinnati, Louisville, South Florida, Villanova, and West Virginia. Senior-to-be Jayne Grebinski was the lone individual named to the All-Academic team announced earlier this week.

To be nominated, a team must carry a minimum 3.000 cumulative grade-point average.
