Kennedy Sixth at Pan American Junior Championships

Kennedy topped her mark from the Canadian

MIRAMAR, Fla. – Incoming freshman Sam Kennedy placed sixth in the hammer throw at the Pan American Junior Athletics Championships Friday morning at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Fla.

Competing for Team Canada, Kennedy notched a top toss of 169 feet, 5 inches (51.65 meters) to finish ahead of teammate Joanna Franke-Kuhn who placed seventh. Franke-Kuhn was the Canadian junior national champion.

The Surrey, British Columbia native earned three points for Canada with her sixth-place finish. Eleven athletes competed in the event.

Kennedy will arrive on campus in August and have four years of eligibility remaining with the women’s track and field team. She will be eligible to compete on the international level as a junior next summer as well.
