MILWAUKEE - Thrower Jonathan Kusowski of the Marquette University men's track and field team was named to the men's 2012 USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic Track and Field team, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced. The women's team was also honored Thursday for a cumulative grade point average of 3.28 during the 2011-12 academic year.

The honor from the USTFCCCA represents collegiate track & field's best in both athletics and academics.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, an individual student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25, and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).

A total of 171 institutions earned the distinction as women's 2012 Division I All-Academic Track & Field Teams with a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better.

Marquette was one of 12 BIG EAST women's squads named as All-Academic, leading all conferences.

Last season, Blake Johnson, Nick Szczech and Jamie Roth each earned individual USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.
