MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's track and field squad was named a 2010 All-Academic Track and Field Team for the second year in a row by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Marquette's team posted a combined GPA of 3.11 for the season. Along with winning team honors, MU also had three members earn individual accolades as seniors Jayne Grebinski and Rachel Thiel along with junior Olivia Johnson were named to the women's team last week.
A total of 151 teams received All-Academic status and the BIG EAST again led all conferences with 12 members represented for 2010 - DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Rutgers, St. John's, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Connecticut, Louisville, USF, Villanova, and West Virginia.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the team must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher.
