MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University track and field squad has announced its schedule for the 2009-10 indoor and 2010 outdoor seasons.

"I really like how the schedule came together this year," said head coach Bert Rogers. "We will get several opportunities at high-quality meets that will really prepare us for the BIG EAST. Ultimately we want to be as prepared as possible for the BIG EAST and I think this schedule does that."

The Golden Eagles will begin competition during the indoor campaign at the Blue and Gold Invitational in Notre Dame, Ind., on Dec. 6, before competing in the ISU Holiday Preview on Dec. 11. Following winter break, MU will travel to Madison, Wis. to take part in the Badger Track Classic and will trek across town for a dual meet with Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Jan. 23 at the Klotsche Center.

Three-straight meets in the state of Indiana with the Indiana Relays, Meyo Invitational and the Hoosier Hills Invitational will bring the Golden Eagles to the BIG EAST Indoor Championships on Feb. 20 in New York. The NCAA Indoor Championships are set for March 12-13 in Fayetteville, Ark.

The outdoor season is slated to begin March 19 at the Baldy Castillo Invitational in Tempe, Ariz., followed by three meets the following weekend. On March 2, Marquette will return the favor to UWM by hosting its own dual meet at Valley Fields on April 2.

On April 9, the Golden Eagles will travel to the Lee Calhoun Invitational and will participate in three meets the weekend of April 17.

For the third consecutive year, Marquette will host the Marquette Twilight on April 24 at Valley Fields, a week before the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships in Cincinnati, Ohio. After the conference championships conclude on May 2, the Golden Eagles will have two weekends remaining to reach NCAA regional-qualifying marks.

MU student-athletes reaching NCAA marks will travel to Austin, Texas on May 27-29 for the NCAA West Regional. The 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championships will be held June 9-12 in Eugene, Ore.
