MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men’s and women’s track and field programs announced its team awards for the 2014-15 season, honoring eight student-athletes at the annual team banquet held at the Union Annex on campus.

Graduated senior William Koeck and senior Wally Ellenson were honored as co-MVPs on the men’s team. It was the third-straight honor for Koeck and the first for Ellenson in his first season with the Golden Eagles. On the women’s side, Kathryn Koeck was named MVP following her phenomenal senior campaign.

William Koeck’s season was highlighted by a BIG EAST individual title in the hammer throw where he set the Marquette record with a distance of 62.27 meters (204-3 feet). The Winneconne, Wisconsin native would best that mark once more by taking 16th at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds.

Ellenson, a high-jumper, capped his junior season with NCAA All-American honors during both the indoor and outdoor seasons where he placed third and fifth, respectively. The four-time All-American and Rice Lake, Wisconsin native was the BIG EAST Champion in the event during both the indoor and outdoor seasons, while being named Most Outstanding Male Field Athlete at the BIG EAST Indoor meet. He set a school record and a personal-best when he leapt of height of 2.28 meters (7-5.75 feet) in his first-ever meet with the program.

After missing the entire 2014 season due to injury, Kathryn Koeck turned in a senior season to remember as she concluded her career with a BIG EAST Championship in the hammer throw – one of three events she qualified in at the outdoor conference meet. Koeck set and re-set the all-time Marquette hammer throw record in each of her first three outdoor meets in 2015, capping with a distance of 61.12 meters (200-6 feet). She reached the top of the podium nine times combined throughout the season, including five first-place finishes in the hammer throw.

Sophomores Dwayne Dash Jr. and Brittney Feivor were named the men’s and women’s most improved performers. Dash was the BIG EAST indoor long jump runner-up when he recorded the fourth-longest distance in Marquette history with a leap of 7.12 meters (23-4.5 feet). Feivor set career marks in every event she competed in last season, including a school-record setting time of 16:32.93 in the 5,000 meters at the Drake Relays. She would place third in the same event at the BIG EAST outdoor Championships.

Alec Miller and Cassy Goodrich earned Freshmen of the Year honors after a spectacular inaugural season. Miller, a middle distance runner, set two freshman records and took fifth in the 1,000-meter run at the BIG EAST indoor championships, followed by a sixth-place finish in the 800-meter run at the BIG EAST outdoor championships. Goodrich, a sprinter, set five freshman records and four school records on the way to medaling in six events at both the BIG EAST indoor and outdoor championship meets, combined.

Rounding out the awards was graduated senior Samantha Kennedy, who was honored with the Senior Academic Award.
