MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men’s and women’s track & field programs have announced their schedules for the upcoming 2015-16 indoor and outdoor seasons.

“We have built a solid schedule for this upcoming season that has a mix of familiar places and a couple of new ones this year,” head coach Bert Rogers said. “The goal is to structure the season to best prepare us for BIG EAST Indoor and Outdoor meets, and this year’s schedule does just that.”

The Marquette men’s and women’s teams recorded their highest-ever finishes at the BIG EAST indoor and outdoor championships in 2015, taking second place in the team classification at both meets.

“We are excited to experience two new venues for the BIG EAST indoor and outdoor championships this year,” Rogers said. “We’ll be competing at the brand new Ocean Breeze indoor track in Staten Island, as well as the outdoor facility at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio, which will be new for us.”

The Golden Eagles will participate in 22 meets in all, including regular season and conference championship meets. Unlike year’s past, MU will not host a dual meet against UW-Milwaukee this year, but will remain close to home for several indoor and outdoor meets in 2016.

“We are excited to compete close to home a few times this year with a quad meet on January 23 at Milwaukee and our trips to Madison for indoors and outdoors,” Rogers said. “It’s always fun to compete in front of family and friends.”

For the ninth straight season, MU will officially open up the indoor campaign at the Blue and Gold Invitational hosted by Notre Dame on Friday, Dec. 4. Following winter break, the Golden Eagles will restart competition in Milwaukee at the Panther Quad held inside the Klotsche Center on Jan. 23.

The team will close out January with a pair of meets at Northern Iowa Jan. 29-30 before kick-starting February with a split squad weekend at the Meyo Invitational in Notre Dame and the UW-Parkside Classic in Kenosha Feb. 5-6.

For the fourth straight season, the Golden Eagles will head to Allendale, Michigan to take part in the Grand Valley State BIG Meet on Feb. 12. The Red and White Open (Feb. 19) at Wisconsin will follow and serve as the squad’s final tune-up before heading to the BIG EAST Indoor Championships in Ocean Breeze, N.Y. Feb. 26-27.

The indoor season concludes with the NCAA Indoor Championships held in Birmingham, Alabama March 11-12. Last season, senior high jumper Wally Ellenson took third place and claimed All-American honors with a height of 2.23 meters (7-3.75 feet).

The outdoor season will begin April 1-2 at the Joey Haines Invitational at Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau, Missouri before Marquette will then make its annual trip to California to compete in the Mt. SAC Relays on April 14-16, the Bryan Clay Invitational on April 15 and the Long Beach Invitational on April 16.

On April 23, MU will compete at the Illinois Twilight in Champaign, Illinois followed by its third straight trip to the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa April 29-30. Those not competing at the Drake Relays will head to nearby UW-Whitewater in a one-day event April 30.

May begins championship preparation as Marquette heads to the Wisconsin Twilight (May 6) in Madison for its final tune-up before the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships in Geneva, Ohio on May 13-14. Both teams are coming off second-place finishes in 2015 where they also put 30 student-athletes combined on the All-BIG EAST teams.

The final regular season meet for the Golden Eagles will be the Gregory Invitational on May 19-20 at North Central College.

Postseason action kicks off with the NCAA Preliminary Round in Kansas on May 26-28, while the NCAA Championships will be held on June 8-11 in Eugene, Oregon.

Marquette sent six to the NCAA West Preliminaries last season, led by graduating senior siblings William Koeck (hammer) and Kathryn Koeck (hammer). Others looking to return in 2016 will be Brittney Feivor (5,000 meters), Cassy Goodrich (400 dash), John Krzyszkowski (javelin) and Ellenson (high jump).
