Terica Harris Named BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week

Dec. 14, 2016

Official BIG EAST Release

Marquette University junior Terica Harris has been named the BIG EAST Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Harris set multiple personal-bests at the squad’s second indoor meet of the season last Friday at the UW-Parkside Fall Finale. The Savannah, Georgia, native won the long jump with a personal best of 5.70 meters/18 feet, 8.5 inches. The mark was fifth-best all-time at Marquette and currently ranks second in the BIG EAST and 33rd-nationally this season.

She also finished runner-up in the 55-meter dash with a personal-best time of 7.21 seconds, good enough for No. 4 all-time at Marquette.

This was the first weekly award winner for Marquette this season and the first-ever indoor honor for Harris. It's her second career BIG EAST weekly award overall after being named Field Athlete of the Week following the first set of outdoor awards last season (March 30, 2016).

She and the Golden Eagles are wrapping up finals this week before entering winter break. The team will resume action on Saturday, Jan. 21, when it competes at the John Tierney Invitational hosted by UW-Milwaukee.
