"We have had a great tradition of successful Marquette cross country and distance athletes from Indiana. Blake will help add to that strong tradition. Unfortunately, Blake missed his senior track season due to an injury, but that has only increased his motivation to do well in college."

High School: Lawson earned eight letters at New Prairie High School in cross country, track and swimming...Co-captained the cross country squad as a junior and senior...Collected numerous team accolades, including most valuable runner and mental attitude award...Earned all-conference, all-section and all-region honors, as well as first and second team all-state selections...In track, earned conference championships in the 4x800 relay and the 3,200-meter run...Recorded personal bests in the 1,600-meter run (4:40), 3,200-meter run (9:41) and 5k (15:52)...Was a competitive swimmer as a high school sophomore, earning a letter.

Personal: Lawson is the son of Paul and Jackie Lawson ... Plans to major in civil engineering...Finished second in his class at New Prairie.
